For those who view the YouTube Beta Channel Blog recently, youll see that our good (to some people) friend (to some people) Brian Glick (to some people) hasnt made a post in…a month! A big round of applause to the “hard working” young and “experinced” men and women changing the channels (like a remote, their to lazy to get up and change it themselves). Im expecting the new channels in a month…..and a year……..better make that a year and a half to be safe.
In OTHER news,
YouTube recently changed their Masthead! The thing at the top of the page! It looks “sleek” and “stylish” and “new” and “easier”. While the new header DOES look nice…kinda…it replaces the big and easy to find (for the “special children”) buttons (that I liked), they are now just small, blue, boring words….just words….like this…..and this……..Its so simple I can do that!
Videos Channels Subscriptions Shows
While on fancy, Im using WordPresses new iNove theme! Create a blog at wordpress.com <—more blue!
One of the many hate reasons of the new Channels 2.0 is the not being able to see the channels background. However, Transparency is now added to the new channel design.
A quote from the YouTube channel blog:
We’ve now added transparency settings. Try it out under the “Advanced options” in the “Themes and Colors” section – and be sure to call out any designs you’re particularly proud of in the comments. We’d love to show it off in the list of channels on the right hand side of this blog. In fact, you can now modify two different levels of transparency: One for the modules, and one for the wrapper. (The wrapper can even be completely transparent.)
Here is my latest channel design with the transparency. You can view my page through the link in the sidebar or simply click here.
Channel Release Date Changed
To the delight of many opposers to the upgrade, the release date was pushed back from July 15 to a later date. A list of things the team will be working on:
Well, July 15th is almost here, and we realized that we still have a few bugs and things left on the to-do list.
Specifically, here’s what we plan to do before we roll the new version out to all remaining channels:
- Fix some browser-specific layout bugs – in particular, IE6 has a few issues right now
- Allow you to default your channel to “grid” view
- Allow you to re-order your uploads & playlists
- Some other small things, including fixes for some of the other bugs you’ve helped find (such as grid view not always working in IE)
Heres a little unknown fact about July 15…
It was the day of the final plot to kill Adolf Hitler back during WWII. I learned THAT in Valkyre!
Also, I added 2 new uploads to my channel.
Recently, YouTube made an update to its official blog. Moving to BlogSpot as a provider. The URL for the new blog is http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/. However, http://www.youtube.com/blog is still active. The new blog looks the same as the old one and works the same, exept for the requirement to sign in to a Google account, wordpress, blogspot, Open ID, LiveJournal, TypePad, or Aim to comment on a post.
For a long time our blog hasn’t used the latest blog technology — not only was publishing posts a time-consuming process, but you couldn’t search through our archives or find posts grouped by subject. Well, we’re finally catching up and have migrated over to Blogger, a more flexible blogging platform that heeds the call for better navigation and organization. (But be aware that if you want to comment on a blog post, you’ll need an OpenID, or a Google account, to do so. Connecting your YouTube account to your Google account should make the process pretty seamless.)
We’re still fixing a few things here and there, and a few posts with large numbers of comments are still migrating over, but overall we hope you will find this to be a better blog-reading experience.
Despite the requrement to sign in, the blog is more navigatable to find a post your looking for.
More on YouTube blog news, Im adding a RSS feed widget for the YouTube blog and the Beta Channel blog.
After a month of planning and a week of development, my mix album is finished!
